According to Kari Bennett, founder and CEO of Murray-based hospitality design firm Edge Interior Design, The Grove Hotel’s existing interiors had grown dated and worn—an issue common in hospitality spaces. Her team set out to open up the property, bringing a lighter, more contemporary edge to its interiors.
Wanting to preserve the hotel’s arboreal atmosphere, Edge ID’s new concept was largely inspired by existing vinyl wall treatments that adorned the headboard wall of each guest room. Bennett, who also worked on previous renovations of the property, was happy to oblige: “The graphic focal walls were designed by a previous co-worker of mine, and feature leaves and a botanical, garden feel.”
From there, the team introduced updated finishes and custom furniture designed for longevity, comfort and flexibility. “Everything in the Grove was custom designed,” Bennett says. Working with Creation Hospitality, Edge ID developed tailored pieces to complement the hotel’s character while giving it a fresh perspective.
The project’s 39 different room configurations—far more than the industry average of six to 10—presented another challenge. “There were a lot of architectural and design solutions to devise,” Bennett shares.
The design answered gracefully with vibrant emeralds and natural wood finishes that pay homage to the hotel’s namesake. In common areas, three iterations of carpeting in complementary botanical leaf motifs developed with Brinton’s manufacturers weave through the lobby, corridors and meeting rooms.
In guest rooms, bespoke blossom-inspired light fixtures produced by Malar Contract Lighting soften the interiors, complementing bold floral accent chairs. Sweeping floralscape artwork by Utah artist Cassidy Barney adds bucolic charm and warmth, while fully redesigned bathrooms pair open layouts with modern finishes.
The result is an award-winning retreat that exudes the modern comfort guests expect of a tranquil getaway, with every detail thoughtfully rooted in The Grove’s botanical identity.
