Walking into Magnolia Bakery, it automatically feels like the elevated, local New York pastry shop where it was first started. And the taste is identical — but don’t take our word for it; take native New Yorker and Queer Eye star Bobby Berk’s. Franchisees of the new Magnolia Bakery located in Holladay, and the only location outside of New York, tell the story of dropping off some of the brand’s famous banana pudding at the Parade of Homes just east of the location, where Berk was visiting. Cue Berk’s happy dance. He beelined it for the familiar taste of home and told the franchisees that the little taste of home was “just as good as New York.”
Holladay’s Magnolia Bakery is locally owned and operated by Kirk Schnieder and his family, including Daniel Claflin, his son-in-law. They opened the bakery’s doors on June 1 to a line that wrapped around the building.

“We washed a lot of dishes those first few weeks because we were not quite prepared for the response that we got,” says Schneider. “Bobby, who’s the owner of Magnolia, was in the back baking. We had the CFO doing dishes. I mean, it was wild.”
They estimate that thousands of Utahns visited the bakery that first week, mainly getting the famous banana pudding, with cupcakes a close second. Available at the bakery are cupcakes, cakes, cookies, magic bars, icebox desserts and more. Seasonal offerings include Pumpkin Spice Biscoff, flavoring signature desserts throughout the menu.
